RE: P30 Park problem, not AuotPark problem (long)

Are you saying it physically won't come out of park on the column or the transmission won't come out of park but the selector does?
The selector will not move out of (away from) P on the column.
The brake pedal must be depressed in order to move selector.. always worked until this started. Will look for switch at brake pedal as opposed to emergency brake pedal.

P30 Park problem, not AuotPark problem (long)

While on vacation, we stopped at a rest area on OH turnpike. When ready to continue, I was unable to get transmission out of park. After several tries, I finally got it to move into Drive and we continued on while looking for a Chevy dealer to look at transmission. Chev dealer in Norwalk OH sent us to Hy Tech also in Norwalk who said the y would look at it right away. They also said they would check the Autopark without me mentioning anything, so I figured they know what they're doing. In a few minutes, I get the dreaded " Do you have a minute?" and figured I would be spending big bucks. They said AutoPark was working properly, but the cables from the selector to the tranny were rusty and needed a good lube. It shifted much smoother. So $65 later, I'm on my way.
Next day everything is fine when we start off, but after everything heats up, won't come out of park. However, I discover that if it doesn't come out of park after starting, all I have to do is shut it off and restart and it slides right into gear.
I know something's wrong.. but I'm at a loss. Does anyone have any ideas where to begin to look?
If I apply the foot parking brake before putting it in park, it sometimes prevents the problem.
It's a 1994 P30 which just turned 40,000 miles last Saturday.

RE: Extended service contract

As I've stated before, extended contracts are made for the benefit of the providers, not us. My recommendation has always been to figure what the monthly cost for the so-called extended warranty would be and take the same amont and put it away in a savings account every month to cover any possible future repairs.:W
Except that putting $50/month ( $2400cost/48 months) wouldn't have covered the $3300 to repair my generator.
Am I the exception, probably. But I also have a good plan.

RE: Extended service contract

We are still looking at extended service contracts and are leaning towards a company called Insurance Solutions that our dealer recommends.
Does any one have any experience with them and/or a recommendation?
Thanks
Take a look at this one:
Route 66
I've been very pleased with them... no jumping thru hoops.

RE: CB Radio

a small handfull of the truckers have trash mouths so it can be embarrassing when other people are close to you.
That's why I say dump CB and get into ham radio. Your entire family can listen to it without embarrasment. Plus, most hams are friendly and PLENTIFUL, unlike CBers in general.
I like going out to remote places in the U.S. and talking on my ham radio that's linked to mountain top repeaters. When I'm in places like Death Valley, or Owens Valley, chances are I'll find a ham operator before I find some sicko truck driver on ch. 19.
Only problem is, the odds of me finding someone on ham 146.52 (or any other freq.) that can tell me the traffic/road conditions where I am are pretty slim.
Both CB and Ham have their place, but neither can replace the other.

RE: Extended Warranties or Service Contracts

Purchased a Route 66 plan when we bought our '94 Adventurer in June '06. IIRC, cost was about $2400 for 4yrs/48,000 miles. Since then, we have had electric step controller replaced, furnace blower motor and control board replaced, generator overhauled ( new stator, voltage regulator, brushes & brushholders, etc.), convertor/charger replaced, HWH jack actuator replaced. Probably missing a few other things done that I don't remember.
It would have been cheaper for them to put in a new generator.
Have a $100 deductible unless I'm at a Route 66 dealer, then deductible is $ 34.
Only thing they didn't cover was generator carb.
Needless to say, we're glad we bought the coverage.
However, if we bought new, I wouldn't have bought the extended.

RE: Here we go again!!

So excited!! We have made a deal on a 2006 Winnebago Adventurer 38R. Would appreciate any information good or bad about the Adventurer. We also have a 5yr 50k RT66 warranty that comes with it. They seem to have all the bases covered, if they pay!
Route 66 warranty is probably one of the few that pays without a hassle. Have it on our '94 and so far they have covered everything except a generator carb. Just give them a call before having anything done.

RE: Fresh water drdain locaatoin

Have you tried calling Winnebago support? They are the most helpful support people I have ever run across. Called them many times with questions about my 94 Adventurer and they never hesitate to help. Only mfg. I know that has service info on line going back that far.
Aside from that, my Adventurer has 3 drain lines, one of which comes directly from tank and bypasses the pump, one for cold water and one for hot water. All are located right at the tank.

RE: I-94 thru Chicago

Thanks for the help.
I am going to Eagle WI which is about 30 miles SW of Milwaukee.
From Gary IN, 127 miles up I-94 and 232 miles using I-80 and I-39 (Backtracking)
6 tolls for a total of $14.30. But the time to manually pay them is my issue. I could see 6 tolls taking an hour (10 min / toll) to go through. Maybe less on Sunday morning.
Anybody have good or bad things to say about using IL-41 as an alternative?
Thanks,
Eric
Are you assuming there's only 1 manual lane?
Normally there's at least 2 maybe 3 or 4 so, unless you hit at rush hour you should zip thru in less than 2 minutes/toll.
Taking 41 would probably take you longer.

It doesn't look like Texas EZ-Pass works outside of TX, at least not in the northeast EZPass states nor IL IPass.
Go here for IL tolls info

RE: Cleveland OH - Place to Camp/Park

Depending on which direction you're headed after the game, there's turnpike rest areas with elec and dump at milepost 139.5 westbound and 197 eastbound.
keep you on turnpike, clean, safe, close to food and facilities. Use them every time we cross thru OH.

RE: Highway Fatalities - drivers with illness

Troubling article, although I'm not sure what sleep apnea in the last two or so paragraphs has to do with crossing the median?
Perhaps they meant narcolepsy?
When you have sleep apnea you will fall asleep at the wheel, The wife woke me up twice as I was going off the road. Then I decided it was time to do the sleep study and then get a Bi-pap machine. Now I sleep at night and fully rested
According to this site:
Sleep Apnea
when you have sleep apnea, you stop breathing in your sleep, not fall asleep. Since both my wife and a very good friend both have SA, this is closer to the truth.
